January’s reports showed solid economic growth to start the year. Hiring accelerated, as 353,000 jobs were added in January following an upwardly revised 333,000 new jobs in December. Consumer confidence and service sector confidence also improved to start the year.

Economic Risk Factor Update: January 2024 [SlideShare]

The reports released in December showed solid economic growth to finish the year. Hiring accelerated, as 217,000 jobs were added in December against 179,000 jobs in November. Consumer confidence also improved notably, but service sector confidence fell. The yield curve inversion widened again in December, marking two consecutive months of an increasing inversion.

Economic Risk Factor Update: December 2023 [SlideShare]

The reports released in November showed continued economic growth. Hiring accelerated, as 199,000 jobs were added in November against 150,000 jobs in October. Service sector and consumer confidence also improved modestly, but both indicators remained in yellow territory. The yield curve inversion deepened during the month, leaving that indicator red.

Economic Risk Factor Update: November 2023 [SlideShare]

The October reports showed continued economic growth with signs of potential slowing ahead. Hiring remained positive, as 150,000 jobs were added during the month. That said, the yield curve remained in red territory, and service sector and consumer confidence fell in October. This result could signal slower spending growth toward the end of the year.
