A Quick Note to Start the New Year

Written by Brad McMillan, CFA®, CFP® | Jan 3, 2018 7:20:47 PM

Today’s post will be a quick note as I catch up after a couple of weeks out for the holidays.

The question for 2018

Yesterday’s Market Thoughts video is a good take on what I see over the next month or so, as the economic momentum and confidence levels remain high. Certainly, the market has ratified that cheerful outlook both yesterday and today. The question of 2018 will be how long that lasts—and we will be keeping a close eye on it here.

Stock selection

The other major project I want to take on this year is to dive back into stock selection. Many of us do this for fun, and I think it will be interesting to apply some of the same tools we have used on the market as a whole to individual stocks. I can’t discuss stocks here. But I believe I can discuss different factors that affect them, so I am looking forward to that.

Thank you!

I am excited to be back to work. As much as I enjoyed being at home, I am very lucky that I find what I do interesting and rewarding. What makes it even more worthwhile are the people I can do it with, which definitely includes you, the readers. Thanks for your time and your wonderful comments.

Happy New Year!
